This framework aims to provide the skills and knowledge required to become a competent Emergency Care Assistant within the emergency care workforce.The role involves responding to emergency calls to provide care to patients, driving ambulance vehicles, assisting paramedics, using medical/life support equipment, providing and collecting information at the scene, and completing documentation.

Designed as a work-based programme this framework includes qualifications at Level 2. This apprenticeship and the qualifications within it have been designed and developed with a wide range of stakeholders including employers.

The average duration for completion of a framework is 12 months.
